Dr. Tiller’s old abortion facility performed 1,200 abortions last year

The Wichita abortion facility that once housed Dr. George Tiller's late-term abortion office performed 1,200 abortions last year, the new owner has announced.

South Wind Women's Center (SWWC) in Wichita saw a total of 1,500 patients last year, according to a report issued by executive director Julie Burkhart. That means 80 percent of her patients chose abortion.

Burkhart is the former leader of George Tiller's political action committee, ProKanDo.

She purchased the grounds of Tiller's office and opened SWWC in its place, using the services of out-of-state abortionists Cheryl Chastine of Chicago and Valencia Stevens of Arizona.

“Julie is bragging about murdering 1,200 babies,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, which is based in Wichita.

Burkhart told the left-wing magazine Mother Jones last year that she has a positive view of abortion.

“Abortion is about motherhood,” she said.

“Abortion care” is “about motherhood, because by and large women coming in to have abortions are concerned about the kind of life and the future for their children,” she stated.

Overall, the state of Kansas reported a moderate decrease in abortions in 2013 – 7,479 abortions in 2013, a decrease of 119 from 2012.
