US Congressman Chris Smith to Talk With Key Pro-Life Politicians

REPUBLICAN Congressman Chris Smith, a senior member of the US House of Representatives and the House Foreign Affairs Committee will be visiting Stormont on (Monday) to meet with key pro-life MLA's ahead of the opening of the Stanton Health Centre in Belfast.

The New Jersey Congressman—who has helped lead the effort in the US in support of the Good Friday Agreement and policing reform—is also the author of numerous international human rights laws, including landmark legislation to combat international human trafficking.  The co-chairman of the Congressional Bipartisan Pro-Life Caucus, Smith is a well-respected international voice for the protection of unborn children and their mothers.  He will be showing his support for Europe's first life-affirming Stanton pregnancy centre while in Belfast.

Speaking ahead of the visit and the grand opening of Stanton Belfast, the Director of Precious Life, Bernadette Smyth, expressed her delight at the congressman's visit. She said:

"For 36 years Chris Smith has fought hard to reform humanitarian crisis situations in his own country, in Africa and Europe and made his name for his stalwart approach on pro- life issues.

"We are incredibly honoured to have Chris speak to our politicians ahead of the grand opening of our new centre on Tuesday Oct 13th."

She went on to say, “Stanton is a completely new revolution in pregnancy health care - The new centre will be offering woman facing unexpected pregnancies life-affirming options and quality healthcare".

We will also offer maternity and baby supplies and practical assistance to women, who face unexpected pregnancies. Our long-term plan is to have 'in-house' ultrasound services and an expanded team of counsellors and healthcare professionals.

She added since the opening of Marie Stopes in Belfast in 2012, women in Northern Ireland have been exploited and used by greedy abortion providers like Marie Stopes who care more about making profit than they do about supporting vulnerable women.

Stanton Healthcare will offer a much needed alternative at no cost because we believe that women and their unborn children deserve better than abortion. At Stanton, we will provide the best care and practical support for mums to help overcome obstacles in choosing life for her baby.

We will do everything that is needed for a woman and her child, not just for the first nine months of pregnancy but for as long as they need us. Our long term vision is to replace the Marie Stopes centre in Belfast with a life affirming centre that offers real choices and real alternatives.
