Killing of Baby Lily exploited to decriminalise abortion

Precious Life has condemned the abortion organisations and pro-abortion MPs who are using the killing of a baby to push for the decriminalisation of abortion in Britain.

8-month-old Baby Lily was killed in 2020 after being poisoned by abortion drugs supplied by the so-called British Pregnancy Advice Services (BPAS). The life of Baby Lily was priceless, but BPAS profited by £480 by causing her death. They charge up to £1510 for abortions, so the only reason they want abortion decriminalised is because more abortions mean more profit for them.

Their latest push to decriminalise abortion follows a court case on Monday (12th June 2023) where a woman was convicted for inducing an abortion after the legal limit.

Stoke-on-Trent crown court heard Carla Foster had been having relationships with two men other than her estranged partner, and, after discovering she was pregnant in late 2019, did not know which of the men was the father.

The "pills by post" scheme, introduced during the Covid lockdown, allows babies up to 10 weeks old to be killed at home. Carla Foster contacted the BPAS and lied about "how far gone" she was, the court heard.

BPAS posted her drugs - one mifepristone and four misoprostol. Carla Foster took one mifepristone tablet and 2 days later, she took the misoprostol tablets. But after three hours, she called 999.

Her baby, named Lily, was born at 7pm that evening. Lily was not breathing and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7.45pm.

Prosecutor Robert Price told the court: "The prosecution case is she unlawfully procured the abortion of the child she was carrying by taking abortifacient drugs she had obtained by providing false details …She did so at a time when she knew her pregnancy had exceeded the 24th week. The legal limit is 24 weeks. Lily was between 32 and 34 weeks at the time of the abortion. It is the Crown's case that the taking of the drugs was a deliberate act. Her intention was to procure an abortion."

High Court Judge Mr Justice Pepperall said: "The case relates to your tragic and unlawful decision to obtain a late abortion. You were 32 to 34 weeks pregnant and well beyond the point you could lawfully have an abortion. You knew it was well beyond the legal limit of 24 weeks.

"I accept you have a deep emotional attachment to your unborn child and you are plagued by flashbacks, seeing your dead child's face."

"My duty as a judge is to apply the law as provided by parliament.”

Carla Foster pleaded guilty to charges under sections 58 & 59 of the Offences Against the Person Act - unlawfully administering to herself a drug or poison to cause her own miscarriage.

She was sentenced to spend 14 months in custody.

“OUTRAGE”

Abortion organisations and pro-abortion MPs are claiming to be “outraged” at the sentence the woman received.

But no outrage has been expressed that Baby Lily was killed.

The abortion organisation leading the “outrage campaign” is the very same organisation that supplied the poison that killed Baby Lily.

The Directors of BPAS need to be jailed for their Criminal Negligence in allowing abortion drugs to be posted out without any medical check on the women they were sent to. The Offences Against the Person Act states it is also a crime to unlawfully supply drugs to cause an abortion.

KILLING IS A CRIME

The pro-abortion campaigners and MPs who claim to be “shocked and appalled” by the woman’s sentence are completely ignoring the fact that a crime was committed.

The core purpose of sections 58 & 59 of the Offences Against the Person Act is the protection of unborn children. In this case, Baby Lily was the “person” against whom a criminal offence was committed. But she is the silent victim - pushed aside and forgotten in the media furore around this case.

Medical advances mean that we are getting better at treating premature babies. The chances of survival depend on gestational age (week of pregnancy) at time of birth. Babies born at 22 weeks have around 10% chance of survival; 24 weeks is around 60%; 27 weeks is around 89%; 31 weeks is around 95%. 34 weeks is equivalent to a baby born at full term.

If any person killed a premature 7-month-old baby girl, it must be treated as a crime

ABORTION HURTS WOMEN AND KILLS BABIES

BPAS and the other pro-abortionists crying crocodile tears over this case are hypocrites. They claim to be “shocked and appalled” at the woman’s sentence, but they don’t truly care about women.

Women are the second victims of abortion. Proof of the psychological harm caused to women came from the judge in this case who acknowledged that Carla Foster was “wracked by guilt …plagued by flashbacks, seeing your dead child's face."

BPAS and the other pro-abortionists have completely ignored this fact. Instead of calling for help for women who are suffering psychologically after abortion, they are marching to decriminalise abortion - thus leading to even more women wounded.

It is tragic when any woman feels abortion is the only answer to whatever crisis she is facing. But vulnerable women who feel they have no other choice are taken advantage of by anonymous predators like BPAS who hide behind a phone call and post out poisonous drugs to women without any medical checks. Yet, it is life-affirming Pregnancy Centres who offer free help and support to vulnerable women, that are vilified by the media.

But of course, the ultimate tragedy is the deaths of the babies killed by abortion.

Baby Lily could have grown up to be a mother, a doctor, an MP. Precious Life, and all right-thinking people, are shocked, appalled and outraged that little Baby Lily is now dead!
