BPAS more concerned with abortions than women

BPAS, the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, announced today that it had decided to pay for Northern Ireland women to receive abortions in England and Wales. Precious Life think this decision is ridiculous and blatantly undermines and betrays the democratic process in Northern Ireland.

Abortion is a life and death issue that should be addressed by the Northern Ireland government to decide the fate of their people as it is a matter of national legislation and democracy. Nearly 9 million little unborn children have been brutally murdered through abortion in the UK alone. BPAS describe abortion as a “very safe procedure” yet 100s of women have many complications, illnesses and deaths directly as a result of so-called “safe and legal abortions.”

Bernadette Smyth, founder and director of Precious Life, said, “The recent abortion statistics from the UK Department of Health revealed 294 complications and 1 death as a direct result of abortions. Northern Ireland abortion law, the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and the Criminal Justice Act (NI) 1945, ensure that our mothers and unborn children are protected from abortion, consistent with the original meaning of European Convention on Human Rights 1950.”

Smyth went on to say, “Abortion is not healthcare. It is the intentional killing of an unborn child. As a democratic nation we should aim to provide women and babies with life-affirming healthcare that protects and saves both lives through medical, emotional, legal and financial support. Abortion is never the answer for a medically advanced and supposedly caring and equal society. There is no right to abortion in any international human rights instrument. Northern Ireland is among the safest places for women to give birth and we want it to remain that way.”
