Alliance For Choice FAIL To Understand That REAL Men PROTECT Women From Abortion

The pro-choice campaign group Alliance For Choice today launch a new campaign called 'Allies For Choice.' They are calling on people who consider themselves 'allies' in the fight for abortion rights in Northern Ireland to come out in support of this new campaign.

Alliance For Choice state that they "work towards free, safe and legal access to abortion." Firstly, is is paramount to clarify that there is absolutely no such thing as 'free, safe and legal' abortion.

We know that every abortion costs the British taxpayer at least £600, and therefore the claim that abortion can be 'free' is farcical. Abortion can never be deemed as 'safe' as it brutally takes the life of an innocent unborn child and puts the mother in severe danger when it comes to her physical and mental health. In a recent report from the Care Quality Commission, the horrific reality of the UK abortion industry is exposed in clarity. The report proves that abortion carries with it a whole multitude of risks for women, and reveals that in the space of just 8 weeks, 400 botched abortions took place at Marie Stopes and numerous women needed further surgery and blood transfusions.

How can legal abortion be 'safe' when women are being placed in life-threatening danger?

Bernadette Smyth, Director of Northern Ireland's leading pro-life organisation Precious Life, today commented on Alliance For Choice's latest campaign. "Of course some men would support abortion. Abortion is a get out clause for them as it eliminates any responsibility they have for the child. This campaign from Alliance for Choice shows just how desperate these supporters of abortion really are when they have to resort to using men to promote an agenda which is profoundly anti-woman, anti-science and anti-human rights," said Bernadette.

"We want to give women real choice and real healing. Many women are forced into abortion because the father of their unborn child rejected these women and the child whom they have a responsibility for. Many post-abortive women who have been deeply hurt by abortion have shared with us how they themselves felt as though they had no choice and no alternative, and were forced into an abortion, a modern-day injustice which always has two victims. If supported with real, life-affirming care, these women often tell us that they would have continued with their pregnancy," Mrs Smyth finished.

Men need to be courageous and stand up for the universal human right to life, a right which applies not only to women but also to men. Real men protect women from abortion. We must remember that abortion is profoundly anti-woman, and has been linked to an 81% increased risk of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug dependence and suicidality. To promote abortion can never be 'pro-woman.'

Precious Life will continue working to keep abortion not only illegal but unthinkable.
