Baby 'alive today because of your work'!
Gemma, one of our Youth for Life NI volunteers, speaks about her experience planning the roadshow for the second year in a row!
"Planning and organising the second annual Youth for Life NI roadshow began shortly after Belfast hosted the 10th annual All Ireland Rally for Life.
"The second annual Youth for Life NI roadshow began on 17th August 2016. We began on the streets of Belfast- outside the Family Planning Association. We chalked our pro-life slogans and messages on the street outside the doors of the building; bringing the colourful and joyful message of life to a place of destruction and death. We then headed straight to Lisburn to hold a full pro-life street outreach session.
"With a team of 15 young people on the streets, lots of conversations between our team members and members of the public meant that hearts and minds were changed. On our first day of the roadshow, we visited the nearby town of Lisburn.
"During the first group's lunch hour, we encountered a young man who saw our 'Pro-Life and Proud' t-shirts and asked who we were and what we were doing. I explained that we were a pro-life youth group who were on the streets showing the reality of abortion and the humanity of the unborn child. He told us that he completely supported. Later on in the lunch break, the man returned with a nine month old baby who was 'alive today because of your work'.
"This brief encounter was so precious to myself and the other volunteers who were seeing the fruit of their work- a beautiful baby boy who had, in some way, been saved by the pro-life work of Precious Life. It was so encouraging to see that, on the streets, we really are saving lives- even if we do not know at the time.
"Over the next few days, we visited Omagh, Enniskillen, Newcastle, Newry and Armagh. The sometimes disappointing weather did not stop us distributing hundreds of pro-life information leaflets and having countless encounters with people from many different walks of life. Talking openly with people about the issue of abortion allowed us to show people the truth about the horrific action of abortion and the beautiful humanity of the unborn child."
You can help Gemma and others at Youth for Life NI inform the public with the truth about abortion every Saturday from 2-4pm in Belfast city centre or even by bringing Youth for Life to your own town/city! Please contact 028 9027 8484 or email info@preciouslife.com to get involved!
