Pro-abortion Politicians must share responsibility for attacks on Pro-Lifers

ATTACKS on pro-lifers in Coleraine are being treated by police as hate crimes.

Red paint was thrown over a man at a peaceful pro-life vigil outside the abortion centre on Castlerock Road.

The paint was sprayed directly into the man's face and had gone into his eyes.

Police said the man needed hospital treatment.

The previous week, another pro-lifer was confronted by a man who verbally abused him and damaged his poster.

A police spokeswoman said: "Both reports are being treated as hate crimes by police and enquiries are ongoing".

A spokesman for Abolish Abortion NI said attacks on pro-lifers are becoming more frequent.

"The reality is that Christians are outside these clinics to offer physical, emotional and financial support to women who would avail of it; they are there to show love and offer help; they are there to follow Christ's command to 'love your neighbour'," he said.

In recent months, politicians from pro-abortion parties like Sinn Fein, SDLP, Alliance Party and Green Party have spread malicious lies about Precious Life and other pro-lifers who hold peaceful vigils outside the abortion centres in Northern Ireland. These so-called public representatives continually make false claims that pro-lifers “harass” women. Their unsubstantiated allegations are never challenged by the media – in fact the media shamelessly report them as facts.

These politicians must now bear some of the responsibility for these vicious attacks. Their lies and verbal attacks only encourage and cajole those thugs who actually go out to physically attack pro-lifers. These false accusations against pro-lifers are an act of gross irresponsibility that will result in more attacks. The lies of Sinn Fein, SDLP, Alliance Party and Green Party must cease immediately.
