Latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal that more than a quarter of all babies conceived in England and Wales were killed by abortion.
The statistics for 2019 show that the percentage of conceptions leading to abortion among women in England and Wales was 25.2% – a rise on the previous two years.
There was an estimated 821,089 pregnancies in 2019 - a drop in pregnancies overall compared with the 2018 figure of 839,043. This decrease of 2.1% was the largest annual decrease since 2012.
