Human Rights Commissioner must resign over support for criminalising Pro-Life People

Precious Life says the Human Rights Commissioner Alyson Kilpatrick must resign after she gave her support for a bill to criminalise pro-life people.

The head of the pro-abortion Northern Ireland Human Right Commission was briefing the Stormont Health Committee (Tuesday 7 Dec) on their position on a bill which seeks to make it a criminal offence to pray or offer help to women outside abortion centres.

An Abortion Zones bill has been brought to Stormont by pro-abortion Green Party leader Clare Bailey, claiming that pro-life vigils prevent or impede access to abortion centres. However, the NI Health Minister has said neither the Department of Health nor the Department of Justice have records of any incidents where access to abortion centres is prevented or impeded.

Alyson Kilpatrick must resign!

A human rights commissioner who supports denying humans their rights is not fit for office.

It is well known that the so-called Human Rights Commission deny the right to life with their support for the killing of babies in the womb.

Now they admit they also support denying pro-life people their rights to Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of Expression. These are fundamental human rights, both protected under Articles 10 and 11 of the Human Rights Act.

Alyson Kilpatrick’s weasel words were intentionally ambiguous and misleading. She told the Stormont Health Committee that Abortion Zones won’t prevent anyone from protesting elsewhere. Only pro-life people outside an abortion centre will be targeted as criminals and fined up to £2500. But Alyson Kilpatrick claims this is an "appropriate balance."

Kilpatrick also made the utterly absurd claim that offering support to a woman "…would be very detrimental to her emotional well-being…" Precious Life have ample evidence of many women who were offered help and support outside abortion centres and decided to keep their babies. These Abortion Zones will rob vulnerable women of any alternative to abortion.”

Precious Life's peaceful vigils in Northern Ireland will continue offering help and life-affirming alternatives to women outside the abortion centres. We will never stop actively protecting unborn babies — when and wherever their lives are in danger of abortion.
