Disband the NI Human Rights Commission

The so-called “Human Rights” Commission in Northern Ireland (NIHRC) today published it’s 2021 Annual Statement.

Chief Commissioner Alyson Kilpatrick claimed the NIHRC intends to focus on the "inherent dignity of each human life." But this only served to show highlight their hypocrisy. The Commission completely ignore the inherent dignity of the life of a baby in the womb.

The Commission’s pro-abortion agenda was exposed when it recommended that the law in Northern Ireland must permit babies to be killed at all stages throughout the 9 months of pregnancy – right up to the moment of birth. The Commission also called for the criminalisation of pro-life people who hold vigils outside abortion centres.

In their Annual Statement’s section on abortion, the Commission recommends that the Secretary of State force legislative action to ensure abortion-on-demand is implemented in Northern Ireland – abortion for any reason and right up to the birth.

The Commission further recommends the NI Executive and the Department of Health use taxpayer's money to pay for abortions.

The Commission then criticises the "Severe Fetal Impairment Abortion Amendment Bill" that is currently going thorough Stormont and intended to protect babies in the womb who have disabilities such as Down’s syndrome. The Commission claim that protecting disabled babies is in breach of the State’s obligations to provide abortion for any reason.

The Commission recommends the creation of Exclusions Zones to ensure that effective laws are in place to criminalise any pro-life person who stands outside an abortion centre – even if they are just holding a sign, or talking to a woman using the centre, or even simply praying.

Yesterday (8 Dec)  Precious Life called for the resignation of the Head of the Commission over her support for taking away from pro-life people their rights to freedom of assembly and expression.

We now go one step further and say the entire Commission must be disbanded. The "NI Human Rights Commission" is a complete misnomer - a human rights commission that denys humans their rights in Northern Ireland.
