What happens in the United States matters beyond its borders

Describing the momentous stake-in-the-heart to a rotten neo-liberalist ideology which has been the ugly cornerstone of Roe v Wade, Precious Life's Bernadette Smyth said: “This leaked document shows the Supreme Court will overturn the State’s death-warrant-of-the-unborn, within months.

However, she urged Pro-Lifers to pray unceasingly until it comes to fruition as the road ahead will inevitably be fraught with obstacles.

She said: “What happens in the US matters beyond its borders. American political earthquakes tend to reverberate around the world. Those of us who have been campaigning against these unjust laws in this area for 50 years, see the tide is beginning to turn in favour of all the innocent children in the womb.

“Thousands of Pro Life campaigners took to the capital streets of Washington DC when the leaked draft opinion, penned by Justice Samuel, showed an overwhelming majority unequivocally reject the 1973 Roe v Wade decision – without doubt, one of the most unethical decisions in the history of the United States.”

“Since that time over 63 Million innocent babies, who never saw the light of day succumbed to the worst form of child abuse there is – abortion on demand across the state.

However, Smyth urged caution over the way the news broke to the public. She said: “While the decision will not be considered official until the opinion is published by the court, likely within the next few months, the way forward will not be an easy one, that much is clear.

“Many see the underhandedness of the leak, a deliberate attempt to derail the process by Democrats. We know only too well those who oppose life and family are hell bent on destruction. They will stop at nothing to whip up opposition to Roe V Wade being overturned.”

Meanwhile the opinion, which is an absolute rejection of the 1973 decision that guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights, is unprecedented in Supreme Court history.

At that time, Justice Blackmun's majority opinion stated "the physician, in consultation with his patient, is free to determine, without regulation by the state that, in his medical judgment, the patient's pregnancy should be terminated.”

Pro-lifers were hopeful this decision would be made by the U.S Supreme Court after it heard arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson case, last year which concernd Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban. And it seems their efforts are paying off.
