Western Trust resumes killing babies in the womb

Precious Life have said the Western Trust should be offering real healthcare and support to pregnant women, rather than apologising for the delay killing their babies.

The BBC reports today (4 Oct 22) that the Western Health Trust has resumed abortions and it was “sorry” for the delay in restarting their killing of babies in the womb. The killings were suspended in April 2021 due to "staffing resourcing issues". It had been previously understood that their baby-killing was due to recommence in July of this year.

The Trust has now resumed their 'early medical abortions' using the Abortion Pill today.

A Trust spokeswoman said, "we apologise…” that baby-killing has not been in place for the past year.

Spokeswoman for Precious Life Bernadette Smyth highlighted the serious dangers of the early medical abortion pill. "At least 24 women have died from fatal complications of the abortion pill and many have suffered serious adverse effects. Abortion-vulnerable women in Northern Ireland deserve to be fully informed about the dangers of these drugs, and they deserve real help and support. Abortion is never the answer," she said.

Since abortion was forced on Northern Ireland in 2019, more than 2794 babies have been killed. The new Northern Ireland Secretary of State Chris Heaton-Harris has boasted he is "...determined..." to bring about the killing of more unborn babies, and said he wants the killings to be of "...high quality".

Bernadette Smyth added, "Abortion is not healthcare. There is never any medical justification for abortion. There are no health benefits for women or their babies. The purpose of real healthcare is to heal and preserve life, not to end life."

She concluded, "The women and unborn babies in the Western Health Trust area deserve better than abortion. The Department of Health must put in place better services for women with unintended pregnancies - services that offer practical, caring solutions which uphold the dignity of both the mother and her unborn child."

[It should also be noted that the BBC had a news story last week about the facial expressions of babies in the womb when they react to various tastes. In their news story today on the Western Health Trust, the BBC fail to mention what expressions are on babies’ faces while being killed by abortion.]
