PRECIOUS LIFE RESPONDS TO ROYAL COLLEGE OF MIDWIVES’ SUPPORT OF ‘MONSTROUS CAMPAIGN’
The Royal College of Midwives has been registered as a supporter of a campaign calling for the removal of any legal protection for unborn children in the United Kingdom. The aim of this monstrous campaign is to have abortion legalised, right up to the moment of birth, no questions asked.
Bernadette Smyth, the director of Precious Life, the leading pro-life group in Northern Ireland, commented:
“Many midwives are outraged that their representative body would put its name to something so cruel ‘without any consultation’. But we expect midwives to take a stand against abortion in every circumstance.
“Whether the abortion be carried out at 8 weeks’ or 22 weeks’ gestation and whether it be carried out under the ‘chilling’ threat of criminal prosecution or with only guidelines and ‘regulations’ to constrain the murderous practice, the direct and intentional killing of an unborn child has no place in a profession whose role is to help and support women throughout their pregnancy and to help bring their beautiful little babies into the world.”
