PRECIOUS LIFE LAUNCHES ‘YOUR VOTE MATTERS’ CAMPAIGN
In the run up to the Northern Ireland Assembly election on Thursday 5th May, Precious Life has officially launched its ‘YOUR VOTE MATTERS’ campaign. As part of this new campaign, information leaflets are being distributed in homes, churches and towns, and city centres across Northern Ireland with the critical aim to inform voters of each political party’s policy on abortion and to ‘name and shame’ every MLA who voted in support of Alliance MLAs Trevor Lunn’s and Stewart Dickson’s failed proposal to legalise abortion of unborn children with life-limiting disabilities on 11th February 2016.
Members of Precious Life began the campaign outside St Peter’s Cathedral in Belfast on Sunday 3rd April, on the Feast of Divine Mercy. Members of Precious Life distributed leaflets among the people arriving at the cathedral, and were able to discuss the various party policies and urge the people to vote for committed and courageous pro-life politicians.
Speaking about the urgency of this latest campaign, Bernadette Smyth, the director of Precious Life stated:
“The Alliance Party, the Green Party, and Sinn Fein will not rest until abortion is legalised for reasons of an unborn child’s life-limiting disability. Between now and the next election in five years’ time, there will be another attempt to change the law.
“That is why we are urging the people of Northern Ireland to vote only for the political candidates who will not cower in the face of ferocious pressure to legalise the killing of disabled unborn children but will stand strong in his or defence of all unborn children.”
