Democracy First - Abortion Policy
Democracy First acknowledge the tragedy of abortion and therefore preface our views with the clear statement that fundamental to all said and done in the defence of the unborn that it is done with the utmost sensitivity and compassion, that it is said and done in a non-judgemental manner.
Democracy First is committed to defend the rights to life of all unborn children in Northern Ireland. This is wholly consistent with our founding “Respect for Life” value.
Democracy First is opposed to changing the current legislation, rather we seek to work along with others to change the culture around pregnancy care.
Democracy First supports the provision of clear guidelines for medical professionals and the provision of comprehensive and compassionate care pathways for each woman facing a pregnancy crisis.
Democracy First will work to achieve co-ordinated, multi-disciplinary support packages from the medical profession, social workers, counsellors, financial/benefit advisors, pastoral care providers etc for all women facing a pregnancy crisis.
Democracy First supports and will promote educational initiatives which encourage greater sexual responsibility, particularly within younger age groups, to help further reduce the incidence of unwanted pregnancies.
