Precious Life urge you to ring or email your councillors and express your outrage and contempt of this pro-abortion motion attacking our life-saving, pro-life laws that protect mother and child.
We need you to immediately contact your Derry City and Strabane District Councillors and tell them to vote against a proposed motion that is being put forward by Sinn Fein Counsellor Sandra Duffy.
This motion is calling for the decriminalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland.
What this motion is really calling for is the complete erosion of our life-saving laws. To decriminalise abortion in Northern Ireland would completely remove all protection from unborn children and their mothers leaving these children and their mothers completely vulnerable to a greedy industry who’s only concern is profit. In true reality the motion means abortion for any reason on demand, up to the very moment of birth. it must be noted that no one from the pro-life movement was invited to give evidence on the effects of abortion on women and unborn children.
1) Our life-saving laws, the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and the Criminal Justice Act (NI) 1945, ensure that our mothers and unborn children are protected.
2) Real healthcare saves lives while abortion intentionally destroys life in the most barbaric way - dismembering and poisoning a baby in the womb. The law in Northern Ireland protects and saves both mother and child. In fact, Northern Ireland has one of the lowest maternal mortality rates in the world.
3) There is no such thing as a “safe” abortion. Whether illegal or legal, the after effects of abortion are the same. Since 2001, at least twenty-two women worldwide have died from fatal complications including haemorrhage, toxic shock, sepsis, organ failure, and ruptured ectopic pregnancy following an early abortion with mifepristone and misoprostol - RU486, abortion pills
4) Women with unexpected pregnancies need real help and support. Abortion is never the answer.
Women and unborn children must be protected from these pro-abortion activists who sell illegal abortion drugs, and instruct women to buy and use these deadly abortion drugs.
5) Women deserve better than the likes of Women on Web or any other organisation who exploit women and kill their unborn children. What women need is real care and support.
