Abortion: Modern-Day Eugenics

This Thursday (21st March) was World Down’s Syndrome Day, celebrating and bringing awareness to the 1 in every 700 people around the world with Down’s syndrome. Sadly millions of unborn babies – including the majority of babies with Down’s syndrome - are killed every year by abortion.

Down’s syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, occurs when a sperm or egg cell is produced with an extra copy of chromosome 21. The day and the month of World Down’s Syndrome Day were specifically chosen to correspond with 21 and trisomy.

Since 2008, there have been no children born with Down’s syndrome in Iceland. Therefore, in Iceland, every child prenatally diagnosed with Down’s syndrome for the past decade has been poisoned, dismembered and killed through abortion. American actress Patricia Heaton, best known for her starring roles in Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle, tweeted, ‘Iceland isn’t actually eliminating Down Syndrome. They’re just killing everybody that has it. Big difference. #Downsyndrome #abortion’.

In addition to Iceland’s 100% abortion rate of unborn babies, prenatally diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, Britain has a 90% abortion rate of these babies. Denmark has a 98% abortion rate, France has a 77% and many other countries discriminate against babies with Down’s syndrome in the womb. Blogger Jenny Rapson has said, ‘Basically, all these governments have decided that children with Down syndrome cost too much. Their lives drain government coffers and surely can’t be worth as much as they cost the public.’ Sadly, following the referendum in the south of Ireland, to strip all unborn children of their right to life there will be many babies – including those with Down’s syndrome – aborted in the south of Ireland.

This discrimination is not just happening in Europe, the United States also kills a massive percentage of these happy, harmless and extraordinary human beings. A 1999 European study reported that 90% – 92% of children prenatally diagnosed with Down’s syndrome in the United States were aborted. A more recent study in 2012 by the University of South Carolina shows that the percentage in the U.S. has dropped a bit, with an approximate 67% – 85% Down’s syndrome abortion rate. While the figure has dropped, it is still a very high percentage.

The irony is that so many of these children, those who were even allowed to be born, are being utilised in advertisements to make companies appear inclusive and accepting of everyone regardless of disability. Despite this, make-up brand Benefit, for example, funds abortion giant Planned Parenthood yet hires Kate Grant, a model with Down’s syndrome, as their ambassador.

Abortion is the modern-day holocaust. Abortion is modern-day eugenics. Eugenics literally means “good genes”, “good race”, or “good stock.” The Eugenics Society, formed in Britain, set out its key methods in its document, ‘Aims and Objects of the Eugenics Society’ in 1934 including the provision of legalised abortion, sterilisation and segregation of mentally-ill people.

The ideology of killing off those with Down’s syndrome is a direct result of the application of Social Darwinism and Eugenics. It is the same belief that Hitler subscribed to, as well as other white supremacists. Marie Stopes was a eugenics activist who was friends with Hitler. It is also the same belief that Margaret Sanger started Planned Parenthood for: eradicating those she deemed unfit for society such as blacks, the mentally disabled, and the poor. She wanted to wipe out 'the Negro population.'

Planned Parenthood still carries out these racist and eugenic beliefs today by placing 75% of their abortion centres in minority areas with roughly ¼ of the black population missing in America because of the lucrative abortion industry. It is modern-day eugenics under the euphemisms of ‘human rights’, ‘healthcare’ and ‘women’s rights’.

Abortion discriminates against gender, race, disability, circumstances of conception, size, stage of development and predicted lifespan. Abortion slaughters millions of unborn babies every year in the name of “choice.” In 2018, abortion was the leading cause of death worldwide. Not only does abortion discriminate against unborn babies prenatally diagnosed with Down’s syndrome. Abortion discriminates against babies with life-limiting conditions, babies with easily reversal conditions like cleft lip and palate, baby girls, black babies and many more. Abortion kills future generations in a money-making machine.

Precious Life will continue to fight to keep abortion not only illegal but unthinkable. We will continue to fight to end this modern-day eugenics. To end this modern-day holocaust of the most innocent and defenceless members of our society: unborn children. Every unborn child is a person from conception – absolutely no exception!
