Precious Life Director, Bernadette Smyth, and abortion survivor, Clare Culwell, both spoke at Limerick Conference

Director of Precious Life, Bernadette Smyth, with abortion survivor, Clare Culwell, who both spoke at the Catholic Voice Conference in Limerick last weekend. The conference which was called 'Celebrating Human Life Conference' was significantly on May 25th - the anniversary of the deadly decision last year that legalised abortion in the South of Ireland.

At the conference Bernadette Smyth said, "In the North, we are so proud to stand on the side of human rights, on the side of science and of true compassion and I assure you that we will continue to burn as a beacon of hope and light in an increasingly dark world."

Clare shared her powerful story which had everyone in tears:

”My birth mother was 13 years old at the time she became pregnant with me. Her mother took her straight to an abortion clinic where she had a surgical abortion. After thinking she had 'fixed the problem,' a few weeks later she realized her belly was still growing. Her mother took her back to the abortion clinic where she learned that she had been pregnant with twins…One was aborted; One survived.”

”My life is a miracle and I would be selfish to keep this GIFT of life to myself. I want to tell everyone what a gift I and even they have been given!! I want to encourage them to seek alternatives to abortion.” Clare told the packed conference that she believes if someone had of been present outside the abortion centre the day her mother went there she may very well have chosen life and her twin could have been saved.

Mrs Smyth concluded, "With your help, we will keep saving mothers and babies from the unspeakable evil of abortion and we will keep standing strong for LIFE in Northern Ireland!"

Precious Life will work and fight to keep abortion not only illegal in Northern Ireland but unthinkable!
