BREAKING: Precious Life present 20,000 strong Lobby for Life petition to NI Secretary of State
We are delighted to bring you the news that Precious Life have presented a powerful 20,000 strong pro-life petition from the people of Northern Ireland to the Secretary of State Karen Bradley. The 20,000 signatures, collected as part of our crucial 'Lobby for Life' postcard petition, were presented to NI Secretary of State Karen Bradley's office at Stormont. This petition called on the people of Northern Ireland to fight back against Westminster MPs who are hell-bent on forcing a cruel and extreme abortion law on Northern Ireland.
The Bill, which would decriminalise abortion here, making it legal to kill unborn babiesup to 28 weeks and likely up-to-birth, is rapidly passing through Parliament this week. This horrendous Bill would repeal Sections 58 and 59 of the Offences Against The Person Act. This would remove all safeguards for pregnant women, leaving them and their unborn children without any legal protection throughout the whole nine months of pregnancy.
This petition affirms that the people of Northern Ireland reject this horrific proposal, and states that abortion is a devolved issue and must be dealt with by the Northern Ireland Assembly only! The Northern Ireland Assembly voted against legalising abortion as recently as February 2016 and therefore, any attempt to impose abortion over the heads of the people here must be resisted.
