We need you to contact the DUP before cruel and extreme abortion Bill reaches Royal Assent
If Stella Creasy's horrific abortion Bill becomes law in Northern Ireland, babies will be able to be killed up to 28 WEEKS and very likely beyond that. Further, women in Northern Ireland will not have to seek the approval of a doctor under this cruel and radical abortion on demand regime. This law is even MORE extreme than Britain's atrocious abortion law, under which over 200,000 babies were killed in the last year in England and Wales alone. That's one life brutally ended every three minutes, 20 every hour and 600 babies per day killed in abortions in England and Wales.
Northern Ireland is the last remaining safe haven for defenceless unborn children and their mothers. Our current law has saved at least 100,000 people here from the horror of abortion. But we need your urgent support to keep it that way.
Following the outrageous hijacking of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Bill by extremist pro-abortion MPs, we need the DUP to step up and tell the Government that this will not be tolerated.
We are asking the DUP to declare this a ‘Constitutional Crisis’ and immediately tell the Conservative Government that, unless the Bill to legalise abortion here is withdrawn immediately, they will withdraw from the ‘Confidence and Supply Agreement’ that is propping up the Conservative Government.
This Bill has been fast-tracked through Parliament, but it is our understanding that the Government could withdraw this legislation at any time before it receives Royal Assent. The DUP, with 10 MPs at Westminster and a firm pro-life party position, are now the last line of defence in this ferocious attack on our unborn babies and their mothers in Northern Ireland.
Therefore, we need you to CONTACT your DUP MP (or all 10 of these MPs if possible) to ask them to intervene and use their power to stop this Bill. Furher, we are asking you to contact DUP leader, Arlene Foster MLA along with your local MLAs to ask them to stand strong against the very real prospect of abortion on demand being law in Northern Ireland by October.
We have included a letter template below which can be sent to DUP leader Arlene Foster, along with your DUP MPs and MLAs. You can of course write your own letter and include separate points or personal stories. Please do not hesitate and send today!
Dear DUP representative,
I am emailing you as one of your constituents and as a pro-life voter in Northern Ireland to ask you to take action today to stop Westminster’s horrific, cruel and extreme abortion Bill. If this Bill becomes law, Northern Ireland will see abortion decriminalised, meaning that all safeguards for mothers and babies will be removed. Northern Ireland has a maternal mortality rate which is significantly lower than in Britain and is in fact one of the lowest in the world. Our pro-life, pro-woman and pro-baby laws ensure that women and babies are protected and kept safe in Northern Ireland. If abortion on demand is legalised here, a very real threat which we are now facing, the safety and wellbeing of thousands of mothers and babies will be seriously threatened. If this law is enacted, thousands of lives will be lost.
It is my understanding that the DUP are a party with a strong pro-life stance who have vowed numerous times to protect the unborn child and women in Northern Ireland from the human tragedy and violence of abortion. Speaking during a Parliamentary debate in 2017, Ian Paisley Jr MP, son of DUP founder Ian Paisley stated: “I want to make it absolutely clear that, in my view and in the view of the people in my party and on this bench, the rights of the unborn child trump any political agreement that has been put in place. If anyone thinks that we would trade that issue of life and the sanctity of life on a political deal, they do not understand me and they do not understand my party.”
The DUP have promised to take a stand on the issue of the right to life irrespective of the political agreements that are reached. DUP leader Arlene Foster has affirmed the party’s pro-life position time and time again, and DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds has blasted Westminster’s attempts to foist abortion on the people of Northern Ireland. He said that forcing abortion on Northern Ireland drove “a coach and horses through the devolution settlement.”
Although I welcome the Party’s unequivocal statements in support of mothers and babies in Northern Ireland, the severity of the situation demands real and robust action. It is my understanding that the DUP are in a position to declare this grave situation a ‘Constitutional Crisis’ and tell the Conservative Government that, unless the Bill to legalise abortion here is pulled immediately, they will withdraw from the ‘Confidence and Supply Agreement’ between the Conservative and Unionist Party and the Democratic Unionist Party.
As it is my understanding that until this Bill reaches Royal Assent, the Government can intervene and pull this Bill, I am asking the DUP to use their power as members of the British Government to do so. The DUP are the only Party representing the people of Northern Ireland who are in Government and so I am pleading with you to act immediately and not delay because time is definitely not on the side of mothers and babies here in Northern Ireland. The lives of thousands of unborn children are in the hands of your party, so please use your power to stand up and stop the slaughter of the defenceless and the most vulnerable in our society.
Thank you.
