Horrific NI Abortion Bill signed into Law
The “Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2019” - which includes the legislation to permit killing unborn babies in Northern Ireland - officially became law yesterday (24th July) after receiving Royal Assent. This was despite enormous levels of opposition from the people of Northern Ireland, thousands of whom wrote to members of both the House of Commons and the Lords. Yesterday’s dire development means that - unless the Stormont Parliament is up and running by 21st October 2019 - abortion will be legalised, removing all legal safeguards from unborn babies and their mothers in Northern Ireland.
This new Act of Parliament will repeal Sections 58 and 59 of the Offences Against The Person Act, effectively legalsiing abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy, allowing defenceless unborn babies in Northern Ireland to be torn limb from limb in the womb. This horrifying law will force on Northern Ireland, one of the most extreme and liberal abortion regimes in Europe, going beyond even Britain's atrocious 1967 Abortion Act that allows abortion up to 24-weeks.
Bernadette Smyth, Founder and Director of Northern Ireland’s leading pro-life organisation Precious Life, said today: “People in Northern Ireland are devastated, angered and appalled by this news which can only be described as the greatest tragedy for unborn babies and women in Northern Ireland. We have fought for 23 years to give the pro-life majority of Northern Ireland a voice and to save thousands of babies and their mothers from the horrific injustice of abortion.
"Over 300,000 signatures have been presented to Stormont in recent years from our various Campaigns, and the unequivocal fact is that people here are absolutely against the deliberate killing of unborn children. Yet that pro-life majority have now been stripped of their voice and we are now being told that abortion will be forced on Northern Ireland unless the Stormont Executive is up and running in basically a matter of weeks.”
