Precious Life welcome Pro-Life vote at Mid Ulster Council Meeting
Northern Ireland's leading pro-life group Precious Life have welcomed a pro-life vote at the Mid Ulster Council meeting which took place in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, last night (Thursday 25th July). The Council passed a motion saying that the Westminster Government did not act in its name when forcing through a cruel and extreme abortion law for Northern Ireland, which is set to be implemented if Stormont is not up and running by 21st October 2019.
Precious Life and the Co, Tyrone Pro-Life Network held a well-attended pro-life presence to stand up for mothers and babies in Northern Ireland outside the Council meeting as the discussion was taking place. Precious Life founder and Director Bernadette Smyth also attended the discussion and subsequent vote.
Speaking last night, Mrs Smyth said, "We strongly welcome this vote from the Mid Ulster Council who have voted to reject the passing of Westminster's cruel, extreme and barbaric abortion law for Northern Ireland. The vote is a testament to the fact that the present law in Northern Ireland upholds the right to life of defenceless unborn babies here and affords compassion and equal protection to mothers and their babies in Northern Ireland.
"The Mid Ulster Council last night acknowledged that the Westminster Government's insidious plans to force abortion onto the people of Northern Ireland is in direct conflict with the democratic will of the people here who have persistently voted for pro-life politicians and policies for decades."
Bernadette Smyth concluded, "We are very hopeful that the other Councils throughout Northern Ireland will follow in the actions of the Mid Ulster Council and send a strong message to the new British Prime Minister Boris Johnston that abortion is not in our name."
