The 2020 US March for Life concentrated on the theme, ‘pro-life is pro-woman.’
Precious Life were proud to be represented at the world’s biggest pro-life gathering with several of our team in attendance. Bernadette Smyth, founder and director of Precious Life said: “The March for Life envisions a modern, progressive and truly compassionate society where the immense value and inherent dignity of every human being is recognised and protected, regardless of their circumstances, race, ability or disability. It was absolutely incredible to see 800,000 people of all different ages and backgrounds come together to stand in solidarity against permissive and cruel abortion regimes. It's clear that the global pro-life movement has gathered huge momentum and energy, and a whole new generation of young people are rising up and getting involved to save the lives of the most vulnerable. This generation of young people recognises abortion for its barbaric nature and is ready to keep speaking up and keep fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. Precious Life are proud and honoured to have participated in this incredible event."
President Trump’s speech at the March for Life
American President Donald Trump became the first president in history to attend the momentus pro-life gathering. Trump credited attendees at the 47th annual March for Life for their commitment to protect the life of unborn and born children.
“Together we are the voice for the voiceless,” he told tens of thousands of people gathered at the Rally. “You stand for life each and every day. You provide housing, education, jobs and medical care for the women that you serve,” the president said.
He spoke for over 10 minutes at the start of the rally and before attendees began their march to the Supreme Court. “Today, as president of the United States, I am truly proud to stand with you. We’re here for a very simple reason: to defend the right for every child, born and unborn, to fulfil their God-given potential,” Trump said.
He also credited the young people who made up a large portion of the crowd for their commitment to life, saying they were “the heart of the March for Life.”
“It’s your generation that is making this a pro-life nation,” the president said, adding, “You are powered by prayer and motivated by pure unselfish love.”
Upcoming March for Life in Belfast
Following the imposition of abortion on Northern Ireland by the Westminster Government in October, Precious Life have launched a 'Repeal Section 9 Campaign.' The objective of the major Lobby Campaign is to repeal the permissive and cruel abortion legislation which has become law in Northern Ireland, allowing unborn children to be aborted up to 7 months (28 weeks gestation). As part of the Campaign, Precious Life will be organising another March for Life event in the coming months (date to be confirmed) following the success of the 20,000 strong 'March for Their Lives' which brought Belfast to a standstill in September 2019.
