Labour MP Complains that not being able to kill Northern Irish children due to COVID-19 is "A Lost Opportunity"

As the Coronavirus panic continues to grip the world, a Labour MP is more concerned with attempting to exploit the crisis to further a radical abortion agenda in Northern Ireland. As Governments, communities and families come together to try and protect vulnerable human life at an unprecedented time, Labour MP Diana Johnson has called the disruption to abortion procedures a “lost opportunity.”

Speaking at the House of Commons, the pro-abortion Labour MP made the astounding comments, complaining that the Coronavirus crisis is disrupting the extreme abortion regime which was due to be fully imposed on the people of Northern Ireland by the end of March.

Despite no prior public consultation and a string of high-profile pro-life gatherings and marches calling for the protection of the region’s long standing pro-life laws, abortion was decriminalised in Northern Ireland in October last year. The regime, which has attracted huge public outcry, is not expected to come into full force until March 31st 2020.

The Coronavirus crisis has affected this agenda, and the recent collapse of the airline Flybe has prevented Northern Irish women travelling to the UK for abortions.

Johnson said: “Of course, abortion was decriminalised in October 2019 and we now see the lost opportunity of this medical procedure not being provided over the last six months in Northern Ireland. The failure to do that means that we are now in a much more difficult position with covid-19. Has the Minister given any more thought to what other action he could take to ensure that services are available to women in Northern Ireland?”

Repeal Section 9

Bernadette Smyth, Founder of Precious Life said: “COVID-19 has received a massive global response because it is a threat to human life. We are seeing governments, communities and families come together at this time to try and protect the most vulnerable in our society. Just like this deadly virus, abortion threatens the lives of the most vulnerable every single day in our world.

For all of us, protecting human life should include protecting the lives of defenceless unborn babies. At a time when our health service is overstretched and dealing with an unprecedented crisis, it is appalling and unbelievable to see this push for abortion from politicians like Johnson, along with greedy abortion businesses and abortion-obsessed campaigners. Diana Johnson ought to be focusing her efforts on the provision of genuine healthcare that saves lives rather than ends them.”

Precious Life has been urging pro-life people to adopt a ‘no compromise’ response to changes to Northern Ireland’s law on abortion. The message is clear: ‘No compromise is acceptable when it comes to protecting the lives of unborn children in Northern Ireland.’

Bernadette Smyth added, “We have launched our ‘Repeal Section 9’ Campaign to call for the repeal of this cruel and extreme abortion legislation. The democratic voice of the Northern Ireland electorate, who have voted persistently for the protection of our pro-life laws, must be respected. Not only does this draconian law betray the principles of devolution; it is not in the name of the people here, thousands of whom have shown their fierce opposition to this unjust and barbaric legislation. If we are fighting to protect human life, then this abortion law must be repealed immediately.”

Since the passing of the UK 1967 Abortion Act, Northern Ireland has been the only region of the United Kingdom which has resisted the legalisation of abortion. Because of the region’s pro-life laws, more than 100,000 Northern Irish people are alive today.
