Interview with Bernadette Smyth at the 'Virtual' All-Ireland Rally for Life

  • Interview with Bernadette Smyth at the 'Virtual' All-Ireland Rally for Life

Bernadette Smyth, director of Precious Life, and Sarah Haire from Stanton Healthcare joined Niamh Uí Bhriain, host of this year's 'virtual' All Ireland Rally For Life, to talk about the valuable work of Precious Life, saving babies from abortion over the last 24 years.

Bernadette showed thousands of viewers of the online rally, a pair of baby shoes which belonged to a baby boy that was saved from abortion,

She explained, “The mother of the little boy wanted to give us these shoes back to me to remember that his life was saved because of our work.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure each little baby in Ireland is allowed to be born and take their first steps in a pair of little shoes.

“Precious Life want to save as many lives as we can – one baby at a time.

“Last September, we organised the “March For Their Lives” in Northern Ireland, where thousands of people took to the streets of Belfast to show their opposition to the change in law. Even though may government ignored the people, we must still speak out …we must still protest. We must do everything to ensure the unborn child has a voice.

“Sadly, the law that was forced onto the people of Northern Ireland against their will, could prove hard to reverse owing to the current makeup of the Assembly, but there is still much to do.

“We can continue lobbying our government in the Assembly. And as we are coming out of lockdown, we are continuing with our outreach work on the streets to educate the public on the horror of abortion.

Bernadette concluded, “As an organisation, we ‘walk the talk’ - we don’t talk about abortion, we get out there onto the streets and be a voice for the unborn child.”
